DESCRIPTION: Length up to 10mm. A small forest click beetle that has a few similar species. The grooved, red elytra covered in blackish hairs, black shiny thorax and general size help towards the final identification. BEHAVIOUR: Found in or around rotten wood. DISTRIBUTION: Infrequent and mainly in southern Britain. HABITAT: Wooded areas. PERIOD: June to August. |
